My watercolor has a way of expressing ephemerality, both through my painting process– by layering transparent color washes– and in the resulting textures. This ephemerality, combined with voyeuristic composition reveal my perspective as an outsider– a diasporic Vietnamese, a queer and neurodivergent person– who relies on memories to anchor them in the present world. My subjects are families, queer friends/loves, and working class people.
Painted 8″ x 12″ on 10″ x 14″ cotton paper.
