To me, watercolor has a way of expressing ephemerality, both in how I paint– by layering transparent washes of water– and in the resulting textures. This ephemerality, combined with often semi-voyeuristic composition expresses my relationship with the world as someone from the diaspora, as a neurodivergent person, and a someone who’s alway rely on memories to anchor them in the world. My subjects are families, queer friends/loves, and working class people.
Painted 8″ x 12″ on 10″ x 14″ cotton paper.
